After qualifying, 20 players will be able to take part in the regular season. Among other things, the winner will have the opportunity to take part in the EA SPORTS FC Pro Play Ins.

Bertrange, 26 October 2023 - The Luxembourg Football Federation and Orange have announced the launch of a new season of their esports competition Orange eLeague, the fourth in a row.

This new edition is accompanied by major changes to the organisation of the tournament.

A simplified competition

"This fourth season will see only individual players competing. However, to take part, each participant will have to represent a Luxembourg football club that is a member of our federation," explains Gilles Faber, head of esports at the Luxembourg Football Federation. The aim is to simplify the competition while maintaining a strong link between the worlds of football and esports. In other words, all candidates wishing to take part in the competition are invited to contact one of the country's football clubs, whatever division they play in.

One representative per club

Each club will be able to nominate one representative for this fourth season. "Our aim is to get as many clubs as possible involved in the competition. Our federation has over a hundred football clubs. We also want to continue to strengthen our collaboration with our members," adds Bob Fries, the FLF's Head of Marketing and Communications.

If applicants do not know a club, they can contact the FLF, which will put them in touch with one of its members. An information session on the competition will be offered.

Who will be this year's winner?

The qualifying rounds will take place in December. At the end of these, 20 players will take part in the regular season, which will run from February to April and culminate in a grand final. "This year, the winner will represent his club against the best players in the world," adds Gilles Faber. The winner will be able to take part in the EA SPORTS FC Pro Play Ins, where he will represent his Luxembourg club.

Developing new talent

Throughout the season, qualified players will benefit from professional preparation and support. "Our aim is to enable players to go as far as possible in the competition and to help new talent emerge," explains Barbara Fangille, Head of Communications at Orange Luxembourg.
