Orange Luxembourg launches its 5G network and deploys a support program for its customers

Press Release
Press Release

Luxembourg, November 23rd 2020

After confirming last October that its mobile packages would be upgraded to 5G Ready with no price increase for all customers, Orange is announcing the deployment of its network in Luxembourg and is setting up an information and demonstration program for its customers.

What is 5G for? How does it work? What will it change in everyday life? The deployment of 5G brings with it a certain number of technological changes but also new uses that are sometimes still unclear. To accompany customers through this digital change, Orange is launching a vast program with surveys, round tables and 5G demonstrations in shops from the 10th of December for several months.

5G is being rolled out progressively in Luxembourg. The deployment starts in Luxembourg City and the surrounding areas: from Bertrange, to Strassen, via the airport and Kirchberg. Orange subscribers benefit from 5G automatically and without any steps, with a speed up to ten times faster than 4G and a lower latency, in the order of a millisecond. New customers can access Orange 5G with mobile packages from €10/month and unlimited mobile packages from €39/month without commitment.

Corinne Lozé, CEO - Orange Luxembourg

"We aim more than ever to differentiate ourselves through the quality of our networks. We are also taking advantage of the roll-out of 5G to renew all our 4G equipment, with the latest generation of antennas that are much more efficient and consume less energy. The 5G network is complementary to the 4G network. With our support program, we remain attentive to customers and are committed to answering all questions."

In addition, Orange encourages the take-back and recycling of old mobiles. In recent years, more than 6,000 smartphones have already been collected in Orange shops in Luxembourg.

Mustapha Rahem, Consumer Market & Online Sales Manager - Orange Luxembourg

"This action of taking back old mobiles also allows us to support our customers in buying new mobiles compatible with the new uses of 5G, while saving money and doing something for the environment."
