Orange launches "Safe Zones" in video games to combat cyberbullying

The Orange Group announces the launch of Safe Zones on video game platforms to support families and protect young players from the dangers associated with the development of these new virtual environments. These Safe Zones are also deployed in Luxembourg.


Bertrange, November 11, 2022 - Immersive technologies such as gaming platforms and virtual reality offer new experiences to users but their use is poorly controlled. A few days after the international day against cyberbullying, Orange reaffirms its commitment against digital violence with the launch of Safe Zones in the online video game Fortnite.

These "Orange Safe Zones" are integrated into the gameplay of the game. They are both fun and educational. Through a quiz and a system of rewards, players are informed of the dangers of digital technology and the good reflexes to apply to protect themselves. Through this spaces, they are redirected to a help page to contact cyberbullying specialists and alert in case of need.

The Orange Safe Zones have been deployed on Fortnite since November 3rd in 6 different "islands" in several countries of the Orange Group, including Luxembourg. After Fortnite, new Safe Zones will be launched on the Roblox and Minecraft platforms in the coming weeks.

Orange Luxembourg, already present in the metaverse, confirms its commitment to a trusted digital environment.

Orange Luxembourg has two sites in the "Luxembourg Metaverse", including an "Orange Digital Center" dedicated to the support and development of digital skills as well as good practices to protect oneself from cyberbullying. The operator organizes online conferences and offers advice on how to react in case of cyberbullying.

In addition, with its podcast series "Hello Esports", produced in collaboration with the Luxembourg Esports Federation (LESF) and the Lëtzebuerger Journal, Orange Luxembourg highlights the practice of Esports and deals with topics such as the life of an Esports player or addiction to video games and the risks of prolonged screen use. The "Hello Esports" podcasts are available on all platforms as well as on the orange.lu website.
