Orange eLeague 2023: a season that lived up to all its promises
June 20th, 2023 - 3:30pm
After 3 months of competition, the Orange eLeague 2023 season came to a close last weekend at the Cloche d'Or shopping centre. For this new season, 24 players took part in the individual competition, forming 12 teams for the team competition.
A season focused on coaching players
This year, the top two players in the Orange eLeague qualified for the FIFA 23 Global Series. The season was all about coaching. But it didn't only benefit these two winners. Orange teamed up with LUNEX University to provide better support for the players. They were offered training to prepare them both mentally and physically for the matches of this competition, and to give them advice and methods for their performances that will be useful for their careers. Around ten players were awarded "eSport performance" certification.
A final under the spotlight
"Ivanilson' Lopes Pinto of FC Progrès Niederkorn was crowned champion once again, winning every match in the individual competition. He defeated his team-mate "xfabinhoo", who came second, followed by "Lxbfifa" from Hesperange.
The final was held for the first time on the stage of the Cloche d'Or shopping centre. Visitors had the chance to take on the Orange eLeague players in the first part of the event, before watching the final and the prize-giving ceremony.
Two weeks ago, the team competition also came to a close, with the Swift Hesperange team triumphing over FC Progrès Niederkorn.
Recognition for eSport
For 3 seasons now, the Luxembourg Football Federation and Orange Luxembourg have been working to make eSport more accessible and professional in Luxembourg. For this latest edition of the Orange eLeague, in addition to the partnership with Lunex University, the competition has also been expanded thanks to new partners. Sony Play Station and the media company Moien Mental have joined the Orange eLeague adventure alongside technical partner Foqus, Volkswagen and RTL. It is thanks to these partners that eSport is growing from strength to strength in the Grand Duchy.
This season has been a great success, and promises great things for the future of eSport in Luxembourg.
