Keynote 2023: iPhone 15 & Apple Watch: what's new?

News
News

September 15th, 2023 - 2pm

Apple has unveiled iPhone 15. No less than 4 new models were presented: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Two new watches were also unveiled: Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, plus USB-C compatible Airpods Pro.

The firm has not disappointed in terms of innovations for these new products: USB-C port, Dynamic Island, 48-megapixel sensors, etc. These new devices promise to offer a lot of new features and improvements. Here's a sneak preview of what these new series have to offer.

iPhone 15: what you need to know

Improved photo quality

One of the most remarkable features of the iPhone 15 series is its camera system. Both models now feature a 48-megapixel main sensor, compared with the 12-megapixel sensor on iPhone 14. The zoom has three new levels of optical quality: 0.5x, 1x and 2x.

A17 Pro, a new-generation chip

The A16 Bionic processor is no longer the most powerful processor for phones. Now it's time for the A17 Pro, a powerful processor that not only guarantees smooth performance for everyday tasks, but also supports advanced features such as machine learning and augmented reality, perfect for gaming fans. It's designed to deliver a smoother user experience and more efficient performance.

Meeting demand

Known for having an ecosystem that's all about differentiation, for this latest edition the company is surprising people by offering products that are all USB-C compatible. They all comply with the new rules of the European Union, which wants to impose this port to limit electronic waste as much as possible by 2024.

Apple is also responding to public demand by integrating Dynamic Island on both models. This feature makes it easy to interact with alerts, regardless of the application in use - Maps, Music or other third-party applications.

A titanium iPhone

Another new feature for the iPhone 15 Pro is its frame, which is changing from stainless steel to titanium. Why is this? Lighter than steel, it reduces the weight of its top-of-the-range models. And it's more robust, making the phones more resistant and therefore longer-lasting, once again in line with EU regulations. More expensive than stainless steel, you'd expect the price to go up, but here too Apple has surprised us.

Cheaper phones

This new series of phones is less expensive than last year's.

iPhone 15 will be available in pink, yellow, green, blue and black.

The iPhone 15 Pro will be available in black, white, blue and natural titanium.

Available for pre-order at 2pm this Friday, they will go on sale on 22 September at 8am on our website.

Apple Watch in brief

Apple Watch Ultra 2

Featuring the new S9 chip and WatchOS 10, this iteration also incorporates a state-of-the-art 4-core neural engine, capable of processing machine learning tasks at twice the speed of the original Apple Watch Ultra.

It also boasts the largest display to date on an Apple Watch, with a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits - a 50% increase over the Apple Watch Ultra. In addition, a new watch face has been introduced, enhancing customisation options. Finally, users can use Siri on the device to access and store their health data.

Watch series 9
Apple Watch Series 9

What's new about this watch? A new gesture, touch twice, will allow fans to control the watch with just one hand without touching the screen.

The size of the screen is a choice of 41 or 45 mm, with brightness rising to 2,000 nits and dropping to just 1 nit. Pink joins the four other colours already available (midnight, starlight, red and silver).

The latest resolution of the company ? To stop using leather. As a result, the bracelets have a woven finish and are made from 68% recycled materials. The brand has also teamed up with Hermès and Nike to offer special bracelets.

The Apple Watch Series and Ultra 2 will be available in all our shops on September 22.
