The Luxembourg City Film Festival is back for its 14th edition

On 6 February, the Luxembourg City Film Festival team unveiled the highlights of its 14th edition. The event is keeping to its guiding principle and will be presenting carefully selected films.
An exceptional cast
This year's edition is marked by the presence of a host of distinguished guests.
Chinese filmmaker Wang Bing, whose exhibition opens on 8 February, will open the festival. Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako will also have a "Carte Blanche". A retrospective devoted to French director Gaspar Noé will also be on the programme, as will the participation on the jury of leading figures from the international film industry.
As every year, an international jury will be responsible for choosing a winner from the selection of films. And a jury means a president. American director Ira Sachs (Passages, Frankie, Brooklyn Village, Love is Strange...) will take on this role during the festival. He will be accompanied by the keen eye of the other members of the jury: Nathalie Hertzberg (FR), Sebastian Koch (DE), Vicky Krieps (LU) and Marianne Slot (DK).
A coveted Grand Prix
In an official competition marked by gravity and introspection, where abandonment, adolescence and existential dilemmas are at the heart of the stories, eight works are competing for the prestigious Grand Prix by Orange.
This 2024 edition, scheduled to run from 29 February to 10 March, will also be an opportunity to discover new segments (FABRIC, CLUB...) designed to better meet the expectations of audiences and encourage the professionalisation of the film industry, through a wide range of workshops, meetings and masterclasses.
Audience Award by Orange
The jury will also have its say at this 14th edition. Audiences will have the tough task of choosing the winner of the Prix du Public by Orange. If their favourite film is selected, their vote could win them a year at the cinema.

Orange Luxembourg's favourite
Once again this year, Orange is taking part in the festivities by presenting its carte blanche.
The choice fell on "Le Tableau Volé", a film by French director Pascal Bonitzer. The story plunges viewers into the inner workings of an auctioneer. Played with great finesse by Alex Lutz, and confronted with the disappearance of a masterpiece, the film reveals the subtle nuances of the human soul and artistic creation.
