How do I add a Wi-Fi booster to my Livebox?

The Wi-Fi booster can only be used with an Orange Livebox Fiber. When installing multiple boosters, they automatically and dynamically choose the best path: either connecting directly to the Livebox or connecting to another already installed booster.

You can use the My Livebox Fiber app to install one or more Wi-Fi boosters, connected to your Livebox via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  1. Launch the My Livebox Fiber app on your smartphone or tablet while connected to your Livebox Wi-Fi network. To launch the app, you need to use the admin password or the first 8 characters of the default Wi-Fi password (Wi-Fi Key) mentioned on the sticker under your Livebox Fiber.
  2. On the home page, click on the INSTALL OR CONNECT button located at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Click on Install a Wi-Fi booster Fiber.
  4. Follow the installation process by clicking on the START INSTALLATION button.
  5. Click on the CONTINUE INSTALLATION button.
  6. Select the type of connection used in your home to connect your Wi-Fi booster to your Livebox Wi-Fi network: either click on Ethernet Connection or Wi-Fi Connection.
  7. If your home has Ethernet ports, we recommend installing your Wi-Fi booster using your home's Ethernet network. Otherwise, you can use the Wi-Fi signal from your Livebox Fiber by repeating it from one Wi-Fi booster to another.

Ethernet Connection

  • To use the Wi-Fi booster Fiber with an Ethernet connection, your home must be equipped with an Ethernet network, and the Livebox Fiber must be connected to this network. This mode allows you to retrieve internet access from the Livebox via your Ethernet network and enjoy the maximum possible speed between the Livebox Fiber and the Wi-Fi booster Fiber.
  • Place your Wi-Fi booster Fiber near an Ethernet port and a power outlet in the area where you want to extend Wi-Fi coverage. Click on the NEXT button on the app screen.
  • Plug your booster into the power outlet and Ethernet network of your home, as shown on the screen. Different installation modes on a power outlet are possible: click on Consult the procedure for this. Once your booster is plugged in, click on the NEXT button.
  • Turn on your Wi-Fi booster by pressing the ON/OFF button. The Internet indicator light will flash orange. Click on NEXT.
  • Wait until the Internet indicator light flashes white and then click on the NEXT button. This step can take up to 2 minutes; do not proceed to the next step until the Internet indicator light is orange.
  • It is necessary to associate your Livebox with your booster using the WPS easy pairing mode. Click as indicated on the screen on the WPS button of your booster; the Wi-Fi indicator light will then flash orange. Click on the NEXT button.
  • The WPS association is in progress, and you can follow the progress on the screen.
  • The WPS association is complete when the Internet and Wi-Fi indicator lights are solid orange. Click on the FINISH INSTALLATION button.
  • Select the room where you installed the booster; the selected name will be added to the name of your Wi-Fi booster Fiber and will be visible in the app. This allows you to distinguish your boosters if you have multiple ones.
  • Once your booster is associated with your Livebox, the Wi-Fi broadcast by your Wi-Fi booster Fiber has the same Wi-Fi network name and Wi-Fi password as your Livebox. Your devices already connected to the Livebox will automatically connect to your booster without any further configuration.
  • Click on the ACCESS MY WIFI button to view your devices within your home.
  • The booster appears in your Livebox Fiber network with an icon bearing the number 6.
  • If you click on your booster, you will see the devices that are directly connected to your booster and the connection type for each device (Ethernet or Wi-Fi).

Wi-Fi Connection

  • When choosing Wi-Fi connection, your smartphone or tablet will help you find the best placement for your future booster (near a power outlet). The Wi-Fi booster Fiber should be positioned where it receives Wi-Fi from your Livebox Fiber or another already installed Wi-Fi booster Fiber to repeat it in the area with poor Wi-Fi coverage. The ideal position for your Wi-Fi booster Fiber is equidistant between the area you want to cover and the access point (your Livebox Fiber or another Wi-Fi booster Fiber) it will connect to. Preferably, place it where there are fewer obstacles (load-bearing walls, concrete floors, etc.) between the Wi-Fi booster Fiber and the Livebox Fiber.
  • Click on the NEXT button.
  • You will be prompted to move around with your smartphone or tablet in the area where you want better Wi-Fi coverage (while staying within the Wi-Fi coverage area of your Livebox and near a power outlet). Click on the NEXT button.
  • An immediate analysis of the Wi-Fi signal received by your smartphone or tablet is performed and indicates if you are in a favorable zone for booster placement (green message: possible position). If this location suits you for installing your booster (a power outlet must be available here to plug in the booster), you can confirm the position by clicking on the Choose this position button. Otherwise, continue moving until you find a better location.
  • Once you have chosen the position, plug your booster into the power outlet as shown on the screen.
Click as indicated on the screen, press the WPS button of your booster; the Wi-Fi indicator light will then flash orange. The WPS association is in progress. Click on the Next button.
  • The WPS association is in progress, and you can follow the progress on the screen.
  • The WPS association is complete when the Internet indicator light is solid orange. Click on the FINISH INSTALLATION button.
  • The Wi-Fi indicator light will also be solid orange if it is ideally located relative to your Livebox or another booster. If the Wi-Fi indicator light flashes white, it means your booster is too close or too far from the Livebox; you can move it if you want to improve the Wi-Fi signal. To avoid Wi-Fi interference, do not install your booster too close to your Livebox.
  • If you click on your booster, you will see the devices that are directly connected to your booster and the connection type for each.
